It was pomp and glamour on Saturday 26th August 2023 at Fairway Hotel where Pan African Pyramid (PAP) an umbrella organization for Pan Africanists across the globe, hosted the 6th edition of its awards commonly known as PAP Global Awards, an event that attracted hundreds of Pan Africanists to celebrate their forefathers.
The event that saw hundreds of participants proudly clad in their charming African attires was graced by famous Pan-Africanist dubbed Seventh Day Adventist Church Bishop Joshua Marara III Maponga from Zimbabwe and his wife, Cuban Ambassador to Uganda H.E Mrs.Tania Perez, UN Peace Keeping Ambassador to East Africa HE. Paul Flynn, a representative from the family of Martin Luther King Junior, and officials from various pro-African NGOs, cultural chiefs and politicians.
This year, PAP recognized 11 Pan Africanists, among them including Rt Hon.Thomas Tayebwa (Deputy Speaker of Parliament of the Republic of Uganda) who bagged the African Renaissance Award.
Why PAP Awarding Committee Recognized Tayebwa;
Thomas Tayebwa a Pro-African Ugandan politician was born in present day Mitooma District, Western Uganda on 10th November, 1980.

He also holds a Certificate in Negotiation of Harvard Law School and a Professional Certificate in Parliamentary Affairs from International Centre for Parliamentary Studies, London.
Currently, he is serving as the deputy speaker of Parliament of Uganda and legislator representing Ruhinda County North on ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party ticket.
Tayebwa is an entrepreneur with interests in communications and media, culture and heritage, transport and cosmetics. Tayebwa is a Rotarian and well-known philanthropist with over 74 children under his care.
Tayebwa is among the few Ugandan Politicians who feels no shy to talk about the preservation of African culture, values and norms and has on several occasions gone bare knuckles against those promoting Western behaviors like homosexuality, abortion and GMOs that are aimed at putting Africans in a perishing zone.
1st Novermber 2022, Tayebwa told off whites at the African Caribbean and Pacific- European Union summit that Uganda will never tolerate the Contonou Agreement which contain clauses that promote homosexuality and abortion.
In March 2023, speaking Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) Parliamentary conference in Brussels, Belgium, Tayebwa condemned the EU member states for exporting banned pesticides and products to developing countries.
In same month while in Bahrain for the 146th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly, Tayebwa urged Africans to resist global pressures and trends that can take over their cultures and beliefs.
The above and many other pro Africa campaigns rank Tayebwa a unique African who requires recognition for the efforts he is putting in to protect and preserve the cultures and values of mother Africa.With all the above and many others, PAP couldn’t find any other great Pan-Africanist in the field of leadership than Thomas Tayebwa thus recognizing him with an African Renaissance Award.
